The Reed neighborhood of Southeast Portland is home to Reed College, which was founded in 1908. Most of the area was originally a private 30-acre botanical garden called Lambert Gardens, and was replaced with housing in the 1960s when the owner of the gardens retired. The Reed neighborhood is south of Holgate Blvd and North of Reed College. The homes are mostly mid-century ranch homes with some newer in-fill construction and older bungalows.
